United We Stand for Public Health Coalition
Funding for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health was reduced by
$30 million this fiscal year -- in two rounds of fiscal year 2009 emergency cuts implemented by Governor Patrick. The Governor's proposal for fiscal year 2010
calls for an additional $40 million cut to DPH – totaling $70 million in cuts.
While we acknowledge that these are tough economic times - these cuts are disproportionately high compared to other Executive Office of Health and Human Services cuts.
Without continued action, without new and dedicated revenues, public health will
be even further weakened and remain disproportionately cut.
GET INVOLVED: Join the UWSPH coalition
TAKE ACTION: Email your legislators to urge them to fully fund public health and support new revenues
For more information, or to get involved, please contact: MPHA@mphaweb.org or 617-524-6696, ext. 104.
